Summer 2011 Picnic

Our summer "friends and family" picnic was a smashing success with many of family members and friends of our customers enjoy introductory lessons and a picnic at the airport.

Spring 2011 Youth Aviation Adventure

This CSP customers and staff hosted 60 girl scouts putting them all through their aviation interest patches in the morning and then taking them flying as Young Eagles in the afternoon.

December 2010 Holly Run

CSP is now the primary organizer of the annual Tangier Holly Run where pilots from across the region fly boughs of holly, and Santa Claus, out to the residents of Tangier Island.  This year we hosted breakfast in out hang for close to 50 pilots and their guests before heading out to the island.  AOPA president Craig Fuller, flying the AOPA Caravan "Rudolph One" was in the lead carrying Santa.

October 2010 Picnic

CSP hosted its Fall picnic on October 30th.  The event began with free Young Eagle flights for kids ages 8-17 in the morning, followed by introductory flights for adults.  Hot dogs, hamburgers and chili were provided and all had a chance to see the new SeaRey LSX kit.  This was another great event!  Thank you to our loyal customers!

The SeaRey LSX Arrives

The SeaRey LSA arrived at Chesapeake Sport Pilot on Thursday, October 28, 2010.  Over the next 4-5 months, we will build this kit.  You can follow the building process at CSP's SeaRey Building Blog http://www.chesapeakesportpilot.com/searey-sales-training.asp.  Stay tuned for Building Days!

Porsche and Planes

CSP hosted a Porsche and Planes event in May 2010.  The event was a great success with Porsche of Annapolis bringing a Panamera for demonstrations.  Checkout the video!

CSP's Hangar host Aviation Law Enforcement Week!

CSP hosted a week long event for law enforcement agencies across the country.  The week's events include safety seminars by the Airborne Law Enforcement Association, demonstration flights by numerous manufacturers and a technology display. 

Helen Woods is a Master Flight Instructor

Helen Woods, CSP's flight school manager, has been recognized as a Master Flight Instructor by the National Association of Flight Instructors.  This is a tremendous honor that is only accomplished by those instructors that have met NAFIs rigorous standards.  CSP is proud of her tremendous accomplishment!

CSP will be displaying a Tecnam Eaglet at the Annapolis Shopping Mall near the Nordstrom's entrance.  Stop by to see the aircraft and the kiosk just inside the doors. 

AOPA Summit

Jason, Tim and Colin traveled to Tampa Bay, Florida to attend AOPA's Aviation Summit.   

OPEN HOUSE & FLY-IN - September 26, 2009

CSP is hosting an Open House & Fly-in on September 26, 2009.  Come see the new hangar, pilot shop and flight school.  Young eagle and demo flights will be provided.  The Tecnam P2006T will be on display.

August 2009 - If you haven't been to Bay Bridge Airport recently, then you haven't seen the massive construction site.  CSP is currently building its new 6,000 square foot facility to house the flight school, pilot shop, aircraft sales and maintenance.  Come see the new facility on September 26, 2009 at the OPEN HOUSE & FLY-IN!

July 2009 - Many of us, including CSP's owners, attended Airventure.  It was a great week of planes, people and fun.  Jason, Tim, Al, Bob, Colin & Helen all flew planes out there, including an IFR Sierra.  Check out the videos on the website.

The P2006T - Tecnam's Twin - arrives!

July 2009 - You've heard about it, now see it!  The P2006T is finally in the United States.  Tecnam started making worldwide deliveres in early July.  The plane is currently touring the United States and earning rave reviews. CSP adds new glass panel Eaglet

May 2009 - CSP customers are now enjoying the newest addition to our fleet, a glass panel Eaglet.  N115TE features the Advanced Flight Systems sophisticated dual glass panel display along with all of the creature comforts and excellent handling pilots have learned to expect from Tecnams Eaglet line.

CSP customers enjoy summer fly-outs

Undoubtedly on of the best parts of being a pilot is enjoying summer fly-outs and airshows.  CSP customers this summer have been and will be enjoying such excellent fly-outs and airshows as Sun-N-Fun, the Massey chili fly-in, New Garden light sport day, Tangier Fly-In, Airventure Oshkosh, and the College Park airshow.  

Dr. Gerhard takes delivery of his new Eaglet.

February 2009, Dr. Gerhard took delivery of his new Eaglet. Equipped with dual Advanced Flight Systems, a Garmin 496, Garmin GTX327 and Garmin SL40, this is a beautiful airplane. The Advanced Flight Systems allows the pilot to choose from a wide selection of screen displays, including moving map, artificial horizon, and engine monitoring gauges. These can be grouped in any order, i.e. two fields, three fields or one field on either monitor.

Dave Heller and Ron Miller Graduate

December, 2008 - Dave Heller completed his sport pilot training and promptly celebrated by purchasing a plane of his own.  He has many exciting adventures planned for the coming year.  Ron Miller completed his private pilot training and is looking forward to training for additional advanced ratings and possibly becoming involved in charity flight work.  Congratulations to both!

The Eaglet Has Landed

June 8, 2008 - After a tremendous showing at AOPA's Open House, CSP takes delivery of the new P92 Tecnam Eaglet.  This airplane is absolutely beautiful.  Bob Snyder, an instructor with CSP, summed it up best, "Wow, that is an incredible airplane!" 

AOPA Open House

June 7, 2008 - CSP attends AOPA's Open House.  The show was a tremendous hit. In fact, the Frederick News Post wrote "Tim Cannon checked out new light sport aircraft with his teenage son. Though he's been a member of AOPA for five years, he just began taking flying lessons in May. After looking at a $137,000 Gobosh 700, Cannon preferred the Tecnam Sierra, an Italian-made plane noted for its light weight and stability. 'I love the way that flies and handles,' the Fort Meade resident said."

Things to Do

May 3, 2008 - CSP is host to the popular Things to Do in Baltimore.  Things to Do finds exciting adventures for young professionals to do.  CSP hosted 25 people and provided 30 minute demonstration flights in the Tecnam and Sky Arrows.

Sun N' Fun

April 2008 - CSP's owners travel to Lakeland, Florida to see the latest in light sport aircraft.  We are pleased to say that Tecnam still remains the product to beat. 

New Airplane!

February 11, 2008 - CSP takes delivery of N619BV a Tecnam Sierra.  This airplane is nicely equipped with a Garmin 396 and Dynon 100 (EFIS). 

SportCruiser Delivered

January 29, 2008 - CSP delivers a brand new Sport Cruiser to Richard, a proud new owner. The SportCruiser has dual Dynon glass panel, Garmin Radio and GPS, and a really sharp blue paint job with matching interior. Congratulations Richard!

New Airplane!

January 20, 2008 - Tim and Al Adelman picked up the new Sierra (N524LM). The new Sierra has dual Dynon glass panel, autopilot and Garmin 396 GPS with weather. With leather seats and a great paint scheme, this is the perfect cruiser.  The aircraft is now available for rent.

Eaglet Debuts

January 18, 2008 - The Tecnam Eaglet makes is debut at Sebring.  The aircraft was a show favorite.  Most said, "this is a really airplane!"  Sporting toe brakes, raised wing root compared to the Echo, new interior and redesigned panel, the Eaglet is a beautiful piece of work!

Al, Jason and Tim flew to Sebring, Florida to attend the Annual Light Sport Expo

January 17, 2007-  While not working with the Tecnam folks, Al, Jason and Tim took the time to investigate the latest in light sport.  Come hear about their trip at the Chili day on February 9th.

CSP hosts a Holiday Party at the pilot's lounge at Bay Bridge Airport

December 15, 2007 - The turnout was excellent! With over 35 people in attendance, the chili went quick.  Don't worry, we learned our lesson and will have plenty more on February 9th!

CSP adds its first Tecnam Sierra (N26WR)

November 10, 2007 - The Sierra is an outstanding low wing LSA.  With 120 kts cruise and 550lb useful load, the Sierra is the perfect cruiser.

Graduates!  

Phil Scrivener, Pete Preston and Christopher Dykes recently graduated as Sport Pilots from CSP.  Both plan to pursue additional training including towered field endorsements.

New Airplanes!

CSP Will be delivering two new airplanes home from Oshkosh.  A second Sky Arrow will be added to the fleet as well as a Tecnam Echo Super (pictured above) doubling the size of the CSP fleet.

100 hour – CSP’s new Sport Cruiser reached its 100 hour in less than one month.  

June 25 - The stylish looks, easy handling characteristics and outstanding performance has quickly made this a crowd pleaser.  Come see what all the excitement is about!

Chuck Wilson has joined the Chesapeake Sport Pilot staff.  

May 13, 2007 - Chuck is one of the most experienced instructors in the area with over 15,000 hours.  We are very excited to have him on board!

Tim Adelman flew down to Indiantown, Florida to pick up the new SportCruiser.  

May 11, 2007 – The trip took 12 hour due to the fact that tropical depression Andrea provided 40 kts headwinds for most of the trip home and because of significant deviations that were required to avoid smoke from fires in northern Florida .  Tim made the trip with only two stops, a true testament to the comfort and range of the SportCruiser.

Staff Sergeant John Borders was awarded the Able Flight scholarship.

April 10, 2007 -  Hopefully we will see him in the air soon!

Helen Woods has signed on as a flight instructor and manager with Chesapeake Sport Pilot.

April 9, 2007 -  Helen brings a wealth on knowledge to the flight school. She is available full-time for flight instruction.

Bob Wright takes Sgt. Bowman for a intro flight in the Sky Arrow.  

April 3, 2007 - Sgt. Bowman is a finalist for the Able Flight disability scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded to a disabled person so they can learn to fly.  According to Bob, Sgt. Bowman flew the plane well and his prosthetic limb was not a problem.

Bob Wright joins Chesapeake Sport Pilot's team of flight instructors.

March 28, 2007 -  Bob, a local Annapolis resident, is available for instruction.

AOPA Pilot magazine features the Sky Arrow 600 Sport on the cover.

March 26, 2007 -  Tim Adelman is mentioned in the article.  At the time he was volunteering with the Sheriffs' Association of Texas' Aviation Technology Program. Now, Tim is a program manager for the Aviation Technology Program.  

Tim Adelman picked up the Sky Arrow in Atlanta Georgia.  

February 10, 2007 - The 6.4 hour flight back to Maryland was a pleasant trip despite temperatures in lows 20s.  At last, a sport plane in the Baltimore/Washington area available for rent!
