Flying In

Pilots are always welcome to fly into Chesapeake Sport Pilot! We're conveniently located at Bay Bridge Airport (W29) in Stevensville, Maryland, just east of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Bay Bridge Airport is outside the Washington, D.C. Special Flight Rules Area (SFRA), making it an easy destination for pilots throughout the Mid-Atlantic. However, pilots operating in the area should still complete the required Washington, D.C. SFRA Special Awareness Training.

When you arrive, simply let the airport staff know you're visiting Chesapeake Sport Pilot, and your transient parking fee will be waived. We look forward to welcoming you and showing you our flight school, aircraft, and maintenance facilities.

Driving Directions

Traveling from Maryland's Western Shore? After crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, take the first exit (MD Route 8) toward Stevensville. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp, and Bay Bridge Airport will be immediately on your right.

Travel Tips

During the summer, eastbound traffic across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge can become congested.

  • Saturday mornings: Expect delays beginning around 9:00–10:00 a.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day. If you're scheduling a Saturday lesson or Discovery Flight, we recommend an early morning appointment.
  • Friday afternoons: Heavy beach traffic can also create significant delays during the summer months.

Allowing a little extra travel time will help ensure you arrive relaxed and ready to fly.
