About Mike Millard:
Mike grew up in Idaho where he spent much of his youth in the great outdoors. Later, he lived in Alaska for six years, where he continued to learn about surviving in the wilds. During his time working and flying in Alaska and around the world, he received formal military survival training from the Air Force. His knowledge gained from training and being in the wilderness is what he wants to share with others. His presentation has been well received from pilots and non-pilots alike, who may one day find themselves in a survival situation.
Mike Millard is an FAA Aviation Safety Inspector with AFS-830 General Aviation and Commercial Operations Branch at FAA HQ. He retired from the USAF after 21 years in aircraft maintenance and moved to Ohio where he taught aircraft maintenance at an FAR Part 147 Aircraft Maintenance Technician school before being hired by the FAA.
He was a Crew Chief in the USAF on F-16’s, U-2/TR-1’s, T-38’s, & A-10’s. He was an Air Force QA inspector over civilian maintenance at the USAF Academy on the T-3 aircraft, and he spent three exciting years with the USAF Thunderbirds performing air shows around the world.
His civilian aviation background includes being an A&P, IA, DME, Senior Parachute Rigger and pilot.
